Purification by Chemical or Physical Refining.

  • Conventional Chemical refining is a three step process - Refined, bleached and deodorized oils are generally accepted for human consumption and their processes involve the use of caustic solution to remove free fatty acids and other contaminations. Only oils with high FFA (free fatty acids) need to be chemically refined. Emu Oil is normally low in FFA.

  • Physical refining is a two step process - Bleached and Deodorized. This is the most accepted process that is typically used for oils with low FFA. Emu oil normally uses this step.
